We are putting the residents first with improvements to Manhattan Beach’s outdoor dining aesthetic, functionality, and community opportunities. Redesigned outdoor dining areas and new community spaces will attract customers and enhance community experiences.
Manhattan beach is blessed with stunning ocean views and pleasant weather all year long. We should take advantage of this unique benefit. Improving outdoor dining will revitalize the downtown Manhattan beach restaurant scene, providing patrons with beautiful dining backdrops. Currently, unsightly k rails, plastic coverings, and umbrellas plague the outdoor dining areas. Though these ad hoc elements are functional and cost-effective, they are unattractive, block views, and pose safety concerns. An outdoor dining remodel will give diners access to beachside scenery while also providing cool shade. By implementing an area-wide redesign, we will upgrade the overall aesthetic and improve resident experiences.
As Manhattan Beach Businesses struggled to survive during the pandemic, some adapted with outside dining areas. Patrons could enjoy their meals in the safety of the outdoors and restaurants could maintain their businesses. Even as the world goes back to normal, outdoor dining is likely here to stay. Impromptu and makeshift eating areas are no longer acceptable. Customers expect their outdoor dining experience to be just as pleasurable as an indoor one. To attract new community life, we need to offer an outside space that’s beautiful and modern. Downtown Manhattan Beach has the opportunity to distinguish itself from neighboring cities and shopping centers. Our outdoor dining project will give Downtown Manhattan Beach what they need to compete with the surrounding areas.
The Manhattan Beach outdoor dining project won’t only benefit restaurants. We also plan to create shared outdoor spaces in public areas. These multi-purpose spaces can be used for planned activities, events, and casual leisure. This will encourage community interaction and create opportunities for businesses to attract new customers. As more people flock to these common areas, businesses should see an increase in foot traffic. Visitors and residents alike will come to downtown Manhattan Beach to experience all it has to offer -- from picnics and festivals, to shopping and restaurants. These outdoor community areas will bring new life and vitality to Manhattan Beach.
